My Fall Book Picks For Toddlers

The holiday season is upon us and I am all for it!

I grew up in a home that was always decked out for every holiday. I have so many fun memories of decorating with my mom and dad. I still help them add finishing touches to their home. It is something special that I will continue to share with them for as long as the good Lord allows me to. This year I decorated a special corner at my parents house just for the girls for when we come to visit. Brooke and Olivia are getting older and having this quiet space for them to relax has been so nice. The girls have so much fun getting in on the family tradition of trimming for the holidays. I added a new tradition for my little family that started when Brooke experienced her first Halloween season, reading seasonal books every day.

We constantly read in our house so this was not a big change for us. I began reading nightly when Brooke was just 1 month old. We might skip a day or two because life cannot always go as planned, but for the most part reading is part of our day/night routine. Now keep in mind that I never grew up with an interest in reading when I was younger. But there is something about watching your child’s eyes light up with imagination when you read them a story. This magical moment is what has sparked my love for reading and keeps me turning the pages with my girls.

Halloween can sometimes be a little too scary for kids but i feel that reading a few fun books about the season has helped my girls. Sure none of these books go into a real explanation as to why we celebrate the holiday, but hey my kids are 5 & under. There is no reason for them to know the details about that yet. Until that time comes, they will enjoy the fairy-tales, pumpkins, dressing up and friendly witches and ghosts.

Our book collection has compiled over of the last 4 years and I have some of our fall favorites below. The great thing about these books is that they are all available on Amazon Prime. You can easily have one or all of them right at your doorstep in just 2 days! Or if you like to take your kiddos to your local library, check their inventory for any if these titles.

And so, in an effort to bring to joy to his town, Jack kidnaps Santa and takes his place as the jolly old elf. 15. Disney Parks Presents: The Haunted Mansion

The song “Grim Grinning Ghosts,” composed in the late 1960s, continues to reside in the dark corridors and spooky cemetery of the Haunted Mansion. Millions of guests leave the mansion with not only a hitchhiking ghost but also this jaunty tune catching a ride all the way home.
In this hardcover jacketed picture book, James Gilleard’s shadowy, textured illustrations accompany the lyrics of the classic song, and together they take readers on a guided tour deeper and deeper into the mansion, from the portrait gallery and seance room to the grand hall, the creepy attic, and more.
This charming picture book includes a CD featuring the song “Grim Grinning Ghosts.”

I like to store all of our seasonal books in a simple basket. This way the girls can easily grab a book of their choice with ease. Or they can bring the basket into another room so we read on the couch or snuggled up in our beds. In this case, we brought our basket to Grandma and Grandpa’s house.
